Of approximately 100 species of angelfishes, the Maculosus is one the hardiest in captivity. Bold and easy to feed, they adapt well to most any well-maintained aquarium. It feeds on a wide-variety of aquarium fare, and is a bold, beautiful display animal. They may behave aggressively toward passive tankmates, toward fish introduced after they have been in a tank for sometime, or toward other angelfishes. The juveniles of this species are dark blue overall, with white and light blue lines on the body and a white tail. The adults are blue with a yellow bar on the side and a white tail with darker blue markings. Also known as the Map Angelfish, Blue Moon Angelfish and Arabian Angelfish. Closely related to the
Asfur Angel. Keep only one per aquarium. |
