Fast Facts

The juveniles of this stunning species are dark blue overall, with alternating stripes of white and light blue. The tail is yellow and there is often a swath of yellow along the back in juveniles. Adults are a brilliant metallic blue overall, with a black face, a yellow tail and a yellow curved bar on the body. This species is quite shy when first introduced to the aquarium and should be provided with plenty of suitable hiding places. It will begin to cautiously accept food until it has acclimated. It will become bolder and spend more time in the open as it becomes more accustomed to its surroundings. Before large-scale collection stations were established in the late 80's, the Asfur Angel once commanded a price tag of over $1000! Among the safer angels frequently kept in reef aquariums.
